Let us introduce you to our newest sports injury prevention specialist, Greg Cox, MS, CSCS! Greg is training for an ultra marathon and is a PhD student. He believes in fostering an environment where an athlete feels that they can perform at their best and are set up to succeed.

Hometown: River Vale, NJ
Alma maters: BS - William Paterson University; MS - East Stroudsburg University; PhD Student - University of Massachusetts – Boston (current)
Favorite professional sports team: New Jersey Devils
Favorite place(s) you’ve traveled to: All over New England; Baxter State Park, ME being a standout for me
What drew you to The Micheli Center: The integration of medical care and strength and conditioning is something that I have had experience with in the past and is an environment that I feel I work best in. The ability to collaborate with other professionals on providing exemplary athlete care appealed to me.
How did you develop an interest in exercise science and strength training: When I was in high school, I first started lifting weight and running to prepare myself for lacrosse. When I started college, I initially wanted to be an athletic trainer as I didn’t know exercise science was even a major or career field. I learned about strength and conditioning in my first semester and changed my major. Since then, I have been continually learning about the latest methods and processes for developing athletes and non-athletes alike. This has led me to pursuing my PhD to explore more about the training environment and how that can impact athlete progress and performance.
What are small changes people could make that would have a large impact in their overall health:
Eat single ingredient foods
Eat more protein
Get 10,000 steps/day
Drink more water!
What is your preferred method of exercise, either a certain activity or specific regimen: I prefer exercise programs that allow me to pursue both strength and endurance capacities simultaneously.
Favorite motivational/inspirational quote: Prove yourself right.
Favorite pizza toppings: Chicken, bacon, ranch
