Athlete Highlight: Emma & Sophie Lenoël Quang
Emma (10) and Sophie (7), from Somerville, have been working out at The Micheli Center since March 2016 as suggested by their physician at Boston Children’s Hospital Sports Medicine, Dr. Kate Ackerman.
Emma (left), an avid tennis player, has completed the injury prevention evaluation and continues her personal training sessions with Jeff here at TMC. Since she has started her exercise regimen with us, Emma has noticed a difference in her agility and strength. Her training plan includes strength and conditioning and injury prevention. She has a learned a lot about what it means to improve athletic performance but her most important lesson thus far has been that “flexibility and strength are key!”
Her greatest personal accomplishment has been advancing to #1 in New England on the United States Tennis Association (USTA) rankings! When we asked Emma which athlete she admired the most she, like the rest of us, is a big fan of our favorite Olympic gymnast from MA, Aly Raisman!
Sophie (right) has also been doing her personal training with Jeff. She is an active skier and tennis player and most recently received the “Coach Award” from the Franconia Ski Club. As a young athlete, Sophie understands the “importance of stretching” before and after her workouts.
Sophie has become a stronger athlete since working out at TMC and attributes moving up to the next level in tennis as an indicator of her success. She continues to hit milestones in her training as she keeps her focus on her future and looks up to Mikaela Shiffrin, champion slalom skier in the Olympics and World Cup.
